My legs are insanely sore this morning. I went for a jog last night (my third time this week) and when I got finished my body felt so sore I literally laid on the floor and couldn't move for life five minutes. I think I'm coming down with a bit of a cold, so I think it was a combination of body aches from that and aches from running. Uugh... needless to say, Tiger Balm is my best friend this morning. I've had a sore throat for about 24hrs and my glads are really swollen and tender in my neck. This is the last thing I need the week before I start school. Grr....
On the note of school, I think I am only going to go to school part time this semester. There are a lot of factors contributing to this decision, but basically it is a lot cheaper for me just to take 3 courses. And where I want to work a fair bit as well and bank some money so I can go away next May, it sounds like the best choice. And if I go to school part time (3 courses) this semester and next, than I will have officially finished my first year of university next May, because I already have 9ch. And, after I finish my first year I can both apply for scholarships from the uni, and I get more money from my scholarship trust fund. However, at the moment no one will give me money because I have no completed enough credit hours to even apply. It all makes sense...
So the only question left is what three courses am I going to take this semester. For sure I am taking Roman Myth and Religion because I want to go on the Rome trip next May and I want the background. I think I will also take the Intro to Fiction because I have already read 2/5 books for it, and it is back to back with Roman Myth, so it fits convientely into my schedule. So I am in debate about the third course... either
a) Western Literacty Tradition, which I really really really want to take because I have heard that the prof is fantastic, and it just looks interesting, but it is at 8:30 am on Tues and Thurs, which is both good and bad. Good because it means it won't interfere with my work schedule much, but bad because it means getting up at like 7:30ish. (Which, if I am working later shifts at work might be difficult...) I want to see how heavy the reading is for it... if it involves reading a number of novels that I might drop it because I already have a lot of reading in the other two courses, but if it's a mixture of novels and other types of lit than it might be okay.
b) My other options are Shakespeare the Early Plays, which would be nice because it's only one lecture a week on Wednesday afternoon. But technically have I have to get permission from the prof to take it because I have only completed 6ch of lower level english, and you need 9ch to take higher level courses. And, it's not the usual Shakespeare prof, so I'm wondering what this prof is like. But on the other hand, I doubt it would be terribly difficult for me because I am fairly well versed in Shakespeare, and I believe it deals some with the history of theatre, which again I am fairly well versed in.
c) My final option is Canadian Historical Issues. Let's face it, I really don't want to take this. But, I have to take a 1000 level History course before I can take anything higher. Although I am thinking maybe I can snag a 1000 level History course next summer in intersession... I am also wondering if my Classics course would count as History. Hum. On the other hand I don't know anything about Canadian History, so it would probably be good for me. But another con is that is right smack in the middle of the day on MW&F, so it means I couldn't work daytime shifts at my job if I took it.
d) I was also going to take Spanish, but I think I will wait and take the Spanish when I am going full time, because I have heard Spanish is pretty easy and the work load is light, so it would be better to take that when I have many courses, sometime to lighten the load. If I am only going to take 3 courses I would rather they be 3 meaty courses instead of easy ones.
Ah... decisions... how wonderful. I love being able to accept the fact I don't really know what I am doing anymore... it's great... I think I will just continue to work and study and travel until I am like 90... maybe when I hit about 50 they'll make me a professor...
