Things are going well in ye old Stratford. Although working 17 hour days is getting pretty exhausting. As far as the shows are concerned, I have seen "Oliver!" and "The Glass Menagerie" since I last updated. They were both very well done. Some people were annoyed that they made "The Glass Menagerie" so humorous... they really brought out the humour in the play. I think it was fitting; it makes the tragedy and drama of the play seem stronger to contrast it with humour. Seana McKenna was the perfect Amanda.
Colm Feore was delightful as Fagin in "Oliver!" and the kid who played Dodger was amazing! Nancy was amazing as well. In relation to other years, I think it was a little weaker than other musicals I have seen the Festival do, but I still enjoyed it.

I've had some pretty crazy times over the past few days. I went out on Saturday night and had a couple drinks with one of the directors for the program. Then ended up going to the popular local bar and running into two of the Assistant Directors and have another half dozen drinks. Oh man- I have discovered one of the most amazing drinks EVER- a lychee cosmo. Yum!!!! I am officially addicted.
Needless to say... I was in rough shape by 2am. And 6:45am came all too soon.... and it was perhaps my busiest day yet.... I had to finish making and photocopy programs and contact sheets for the kids and their show. I was running tech for the show itself. I had to help clean up afterward. Then at 4pm the next group of one week kids arrived. So I had to check in the next 27 kids, and then do the pizza party, water fight, drama games etc...

Hahaha- Most of the two weeks kids have officially named me the Best Den Parent Ever... I think my crowing moment was on Saturday during the water fight. See, one of the guys in the two week session is quite a little greaseball... he flirts with all the girls all the time. So, on Sunday afternoon everyone was throwing each other into the pool. Well, this guy was just like there's no way I am getting thrown in. Some people tried, but there was really no hope. He's a pretty strong guy. So I got some of the girls together and we got a big recycling bucket. And the girls distracted the guy while I filled the bucket up with water, jumped up behind where he was sitting and drenched him with it. It was fantastic!!!! Everyone was cheering and applauding- it was great! Naturally, a while later the guy I drenched managed to find me and carried me down the hall to the pool where I was thrown in... It was awesome.

Last night myself and a couple other den parents took the kids to see "Pirates of the Caribbean". I enjoyed it, but I thought it was weak compared to the first one. It was a nice night out though.... added some varation to the usual going to the theatre routine.

So yeah... things are going well...
