Lucy Wilson is the best geology prof there is. And she's not really the assistant prof, she IS the geology prof at UNBSJ because the other guy who works in the department is actually retired and likely narcileptic. She is why I am in geology. However, a geology course would be somewhat useless for your degree. For arts I think you have to take either 2 science courses or 2 language courses. You'd be better off with the language courses if interested in international studies. As far as the anthro prof goes, UNBSJ has never offered anthro courses before so he's new. Although I did find him on ratemyprofessor.com for where he used to teach: http://www.ratemyprofessors.ca/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=70715

i liked intro lit. good survey course, you can kind of figure out what part of english you're best at. i always liked ta'ing it too, because there's a bit of variety to the selections.

rate my professors though isn't that great a source, because it's usually only the disgruntled students that go there. same with rate my teacher.

The review for the prof that Lydia sent me was actually a pretty good review.
But I would look at it only for curiousitys sake, and not put any weight on it.
I think I am going to go with the Anthropology...

I also don't take ratmyproffessor.com too seriously either, but it was the only thing I could find on that new prof at the time. Yay for anthro! I wish I had time for it, ppl I know in it really enjoy it. If you decide to major in anthro instead, then you could also do a minor in geology because it's very helpful for the archeaology aspect of it. Actually, Lucy Wilson has a minor (or double major?) in anthro and goes on digs every summer in France. Although if you prefer the cultural aspects of anthro then linguisitics, sociology or psych would be a better suited minor.

I'm debating what to take for classes in intersession... I am going to take "Intro to the Study of Literature"... it'll probably be a piece of cake for me, but I am hoping it has some reading requirments so I can be forced to up my reading pace.

Then I am stuck with two options for my second course. I want to take them both, but I can't because they overlap.
There is "Intro to Social and Cultural Anthropology". I would like to take this because it would be relevant to Interculture Studies which is what I am thinking of focusing on and perhaps majoring in. Plus, since I am in the middle of reading Guns Germs&Steel it would nice and relevant to that. (I think- I am not going to pretend to know anything about Anthropology.) However, for some reason my brother didn't like this course. Not that I let that have any influence on me... I know there are lots of things he doesn't like that I do. The only other thing about this course is I can't seem to find any information about the Prof. I would like to know the Profs credientials and such... I'm sure he's good, but it's just a curiousity point for me. Also, this class has only a dozen people signed up for it; it would be nice to be in such a small group.
The other course I want to take in "Shaping the Earths Surface", sorta a geology course for the non-scientist. I just think it looks fascinating. And the prof is the assistant prof of the Geology department in Saint John, so I am sure she would be good. (Maybe- who knows.)

I wanna take them both!!!

On another note, I took a sound course at the Imperial Theatre last week... good times, good times... I learned lots about sound, but was also surprised to discover how much I retained from last fall. On Saturday we had a hands on day where a band came in and we had to set up the moniters, and do all the levels and so forth. I had a great time...
