Tales of Infatuation Part II

"Awesome! Good for you. You got up the nerve!" -txt from a friend

I finally did it. I finally talked to "mall guy". (If you read my earlier post regarding Tales of Infatuation than you know I am referencing the guy who I found hot who works in the mall and I wanted to talk to, but didn't know how.)

Since I love to over analyze and overthink things, here is my breakdown of the conversation.

First contact was made. I walked into the store, he said hi to me, I said hi back. I have found in the past this is not the sort of store that you always get a greeting when you walk in. It's not Blockbuster.
I got a txt msg on my cell so my phone made an obnoxiously loud sound.
I checked the txt.
Then I proceeded in my mission. (Cue mission-impossible themesong.)
I simply asked a question regarding products in the store. One of those nice open ended questions which not only gave me information, but I could also tell part of his character by his response. It was a "Can you recommend a good *insert store product here*".
If he had made bad recommendation I would have left right then.
He made surprisingly good recommendations.
We laughed.
He had to help other customers, so I wrote a quick txt back to my friend.
After finishing with his customer he came back to where I was and asked if I saw anything else that looked interesting.
I got another txt on my phone, therefore another obnoxiously loud sound emitted from my purse. I pick it up and joked about how incredibly addicting cell phones are. He expressed how he has so far avoided getting a cell phone. (Bonus. I have never been a big cellphone fan and would rather be with someone who doesn't have a cell phone than someone who is obsessed with their cellphone.)
Did I mention how nervous I was? With my cell phone in my hand, I think it was visibly shaking.
From here the conversation no longer had any relevance to the stores products and rather jumped to more personal topics. I mentioned how we had a mutual friend. I quickly found out that one of his favourite drinking establishment in Saint John is the same as my favourite drinking establishment. Bonus point!
More chatting... then as nine o'clock loomed ahead, I said I had better go meet my friend because we were going out for cheesecake and martinis. He chuckled at the odd combination. (Mmm... Cheesecake and martinis.)
Before leaving I mentioned that I was going out tonight for some drinks with some friend tonight and invited him along. He showed some interest and asked where we were going. I said probably the Ale House (really, I had no idea where we are going, but when it's left in my hands I usually migrate towards the Ale House. Now I'll just make sure we go to the Ale House!) And I got his email.

So overall, I believe it was a positive first encounter. Don't know for sure if he's single or not, but there was no mention of a girlfriend.
I really enjoyed talking to him- he was easy to talk to, and contributed just as much, if not more to the conversation that I did.
I am really proud of myself for finally getting up the courage to talk to him.
Plus, I would definitely be interested in talking to him again... If nothing else because I think he would be a cool person to be friends with.

End of overanalysis. End of overthinking.

On the topic of martinis and cheesecake... mmmm... I had a delicious apple martini and dark chocolate kaluah cheesecake from sebastians. I recommend both. Yum-yum...

And I managed to get a bizarre compliment from the bartender (who I know cuz we worked together at Java Moose for a very short period of time). I was told that I would do well in a wet t-shirt contest. Allrighty then!

What an interesting evening!
