I honestly cannot keep track of what day of the week it is anymore. Seriously. It's bad. Someone said this morning "It's Wednesday isn't it" and I'm like Wha? Wednesday? On Monday we were filling out time sheets and one of my classmates says "It's November 19" and I'm like "Wha... no it's not." And it took about five people to figure out what the date was for sure. Scary.
I am beginning to turn into a zombie I think. I do things without even realizing I'm doing them any more. It's getting to brain overload time. We were sitting in sound class this morning and I was trying really hard to comprehend the information being taught to me, and most of it was flying right over my head.
On another note, I have spent the past two days in the carpenty shop. Colin- if you're reading this, don't ever *EVER* let SJTC construct a set entirely out of steel. Especially not a like 12' high, 20' long bridge. It's rather painful and heavy. It was especially fun getting the steel grating floor on top of the 12' high bridge. There were two pieces 8feet long and one 4 feet long. People on the ground lifted one end up to the people standing on the eight foot high scaffording. The scaffolding people then hoisted it up another four feet onto the bridge. Keeping in mind this grating weighed probably a good 150+ lbs. Yup... I was on the scaffolding. It was fun. I don't know if I'm being serious or sarcastic...
There was also the half and hour I spend on the scaffolding grinding the top of the bridge. If you've never grided steel before you don't know what your missing. Sparks flying everywhere, flying on your face and neck, great fun.
And also the entire bridge is bolted together. Only getting the bolt holes lined up was a BITCH! Partly because the steel can warp a bit when it is welded, so the bolt holes would be like 1/16 of an inch off, and we would seriously spend like 10-15minues fucking with clamps trying to get them to line up.
Yeah carpentry! I am soooooo not looking forward to setting this muther-fucker up on stage. Right now it's just set up in the shop. Moving it to the stage will be fuuuun. But all complaining aside, it's amazing how much I am learning. And it is a lot of fun, even if I am exhausted at the end of the day. The head carpenter on the production is great, and the four of us working as crew on it get along well, so there is no arguing.
So it's all good... it's all good. Now I should do some more homework. I have my major deadling a week from Friday, and I have to make a maquette and get my prompt script and binder finished.
