I officially feel like I've steped straight out of Flashdance. I learned how to weld today. It was a blast! I had a lot of fun, and it's not easy. Not as easy as you might think it would be at least. We just learned the techniques today, and tomorrow we will start constructing part of the set for the studio show. There a giant slide that goes from the mezzaine level to the main floor, and then it lifts up like a draw bridge. So it should be fun to build. And for the play all the characters wear stilts. I don't know. I have no idea what the show is even about. The actors and director are writing it. It should be interesting, that's all I can say. I saw a demonstration with the actors wearing stilts and some lighting ideas, and it's going to look very cool.
So yes, I can weld.
On another note, I have accumulated more bruises on my body than I thought possible. I have one on my fore arm, and then dozens on my legs. I do not know where they all come from. They just appear from no where.
We also spend part of today working with the first year dance students at Concordia Uni. We are going to be doing some lighting stuff with them. Very basic stuff this year, but then we will contine to work with them on more advanced stuff in the next two years. It is to get them, and us, used to communicating and understand each other, so they can effectivly explain to a lighting designer what they want for lighting to accompany their cheoregraphy, and we can learn to understand they're language and terms they use. Having been a dancer this isn't too new for me, but some people would feel totally lost if a dancer started talking in "dance speak".
Uh... I have homework to do. So I'm going to stop writing here, and start working on homework. Yes... I spend all my evenings sitting at my computer. I've determined it wouldn't matter if I did have a larger apartment, it would just mean having more than three steps between my computer and my bed. And, if I had a bigger apartement, I would not be able to just swivle around in my chair and grab something out of the fridge. So, in all honestly, I have it made.
Now- homework.
