What a week this has been so far. Wow. It's amazing what this school can put you through. Monday was a pretty traditional sort of day... class 9-5, then I came home and worked on homework, and actually had a decent meal. Then Tuesday I had a rotton day... how rotton? Like a piece of turnuip that got caught in the bottom of the dumpster and doesn't fall out when it's emptied so it's been there for about three months. That's how rotton. I actually contemplated just dropping out right then in there. (Obviously I won't drop out, but, you know, I felt like it.) It's hard to describe just exactly how everthing went wrong, it just did. I was ready to freak out on all of my classmates for being so ambigious and lazy at some things. Plus, I have to do an analysis for the film "Hero" analyzing the costumes/makeup/sets/camera angles/etcetcetc... and I really don't like the film, so I want to just kill the project. (My solution is I'm going to get a case of beer on Sat night and drink it while writing the assignment.) So the next morning I went and talked to Norberts, and he made everything better. Norberts is so great (he's the director of the program). So I'm allright today. It's so ironic how things happen though. For example, there is a lot of emphasis put on following orders and instruction at the school. Whoever the "leader" is you have to follow what they say, even if it might not be the best way of doing something. Some people in the class have more experience in some fields than others, and like to do things the way they were taught as opposed to the way our instructors are teaching it. Anyway- I learned yesterday it's best just to do it the way that the instructor asks it to be done, as opposed to doing your own thing. Oh man- let me tell you about my technical drafting coach- oh my god, he is the most hilarious guy on the planet. We all know how sexual innuendo gets incorporated into theatre, regardless of what you are doing. And on my god... it's just three times as bad with this teacher. (I hesitate to call him a "teacher" he's a coach, not teacher.) And he has a scottish accent, which makes it even better. And he wears the most outrageous shits. He's great. That's all there is to it. And I am not going to ever eat a banana during tech drawing class again. Yup... this is anything but a traditional school. Some of my coaches are pretty formal, but most of them arn't. Oh- my sorta history/theatre in society/research coach is awesome. He's a little German guy who wears little round glasses. We were discussing the Berlin wall and stuff the other day, and I got confused with what he was saying, and tried to clarify, but I was like, there's no WAY I'm arguing with a like 60 year old German librarian about the history of the Berlin wall. It's just like one of those general rules in life. Like don't eat yellow snow, don't argue with German librarians. I have learned lots of painting techniques now. It's awesome. We made samples of steel, splatter effect, cracking effect, we used a dry wall like substance to create texture, we mixed our own colours, we did wood effect... it was awesome! It's amazing what you can do with painting techniques and different materials. It was really amazing. We get to keep our samples... I want to make like a little mosiac on my wall with them. (Once I figure out how to attach them to the wall- not like that should be hard with the carpentry experience I now have! Haha!) I got woke up this morning with a call from Norbert saying that he was sick. I probably should be working on homework, but oh well.... This is a good way for me to recap what has happened over the past few days and get things straight in my head. (I've started finding the reason for everything I do in life. If there is no reason, I don't do it. But the nice thing is, you can always find a reason.)
