What would you do?
This is one of those moral topics. Like what would you do if you found a hundred dollars- take it to the police, keep it and not spend it in case you hear someone lost it, or just spend it.
Well. I'm I'm getting supplies (I won't say where, just to keep it kinda discrete). I take up three items to the counter, one is 6.93, one is 12.99, and the third is 59.99. I'm spacey (as usual) and so I just pass her my visa, sign it and go on my way. I leave and drive away. When I stop at the next store I take out my recipt and think to myself, "I should make sure that item rang in at the sale price" (something my mother does, so I do it). I take out the recipt that should be for just over $90... and it says $22.91. I do a double take and a slight WTF...?? Then I realize the cashier didn't ring in the 59.99 item. I almost turned around and went back, but I didn't really want to. I remember one time when I was buying a bunch of pop for a play and they only rang in 4 when i bought 6... and I was like, meh, whatever. It's like $2- the cashier screwed up. Honestly no one will probably really care. But this is a $60 item. Should I go back and be honerst and say you didn't charge me for this, or just say, sweet... there's one less expense for school.
I want to do both... on the one hand, it's a major corporition, and the markup is probably ridiculous anyway, so is it really the end of the world? If it was a "mamma and pappa" store I would definitely go back. But I don't feel as bad about ripping off major corporations. But at the same time, I feel bad.
What would you do- keep the money and run, telling youself, meh, I just never noticed. Or set your conscience at ease by going back?
