Yesterday seemed busy, although it wasn't... I helped my mom clean the house, and make these craze veal scallapinies rolled with sage pesto. First I had to make the pesto... then roll all twenty five bloody scallapinies... (they were for a dinner party). It was amusing.... kinda fun cuz I used my hands to spread the pesto... hehehe.... felt like finger painting.
Then I went uptown to get some coffee beans. I ended up helping Lynz close at five (in fact, I did most of the closing stuff...)... I don't know why I did... there really was not reason for me to spend an hour wiping the cupboards, mopping the floor, filling stuff, and counting the cash... but I did. For some reason I like work, and I think I just enjoyed hanging out with Lynz, so I stuck around. I don't know... I'm crazy that's all I have to say... but for some reason Java Moose seems to one of the few places I feel at ease, because I know my responsibilities when I'm there working, and I'm fully able to complete them all so I feel confident there. So when the rest of my life seems uncertain and impossible, I know that I can always succeed at making coffee.
Anyway.... then I picked up a copy of "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denosivich" from my friend... then came home where my parents dinner party was about to begin...
The menu was yummy (see, there's six couples, and the host chooses the menu and gives out the recipies and everyone brings or prepares here one dish... and they're all different recipies that the person hasn't made before...)... there was red pepper hummus, fennel and blood orange salad, spagetti with capers, bacon and mushrooms, the veal, peppers and onions with a balsalmic vinager sauce, and the wonderful frozen custard with caramel chunks and chocolate... oh it was good.
Durning this all I cleaned up the dishes... and ate. At the end (this I couldn't believe) the couples were so impressed with my hard work that they all gave me a tip... which added up to $25!! I definitely wasn't expecting this! They even said I could come to the next supper and do the same thing!
Finally, at midnight, once they had consumed eleven bottles of wine, everyone went home (primarly by cab I think...). It's so amusing watching a bunch of lawyers get smashed... at one point one of the ladies was getting into this heated debate about cattle farming and beef... it was entertaining, to say the least.
