Gar, auditions. I have such a love-hate relationship with auditions. I love them because they are an oppertunity to possibly get cast in roles. I hate them because you never feel like you've done a good job, and I always get fairly nervous and aprehensive before them. Tonight was a prime example of this. I went to the Saint John Theatre Company members only auditions. During the course of the round table reading auditions I read for the part of Annie Sullivan from The Miracle Worker in two different scenes. The first scene I attempted the damn Irish accent which Annie posesses, but failed mierably and ended up sounding more Southern than Irish. The second scene I read I had worked on before hand, and managed to wing a decent (at least I hope...) Irish accent. I felt that if nothing else I interpreted Annie different than the other actors, and showed a strong character for her. Meh. Whatever... as much as it would be a dream come true to be cast, I know there's no chance in hell it would happen. Many of theactors tonight did very good readings, and I imagine there is much competition for the roles.
